The first component of the ephemeral e-commerce system would be the app. To begin the process of the app development, a sitemap had been created which ensured how the different interactions between the elements in the app would take place. This was followed by creating the low fidelity sketches of the app interfaces which would help us better illustrate the spatial elements of the app. Furthermore, the App design inspiration through reaching between different inventory management systems apps and 3D modeling apps such as Sortly and Polycam helped to create a precedent for our app development. With the help of all these elements, we were able to create an app that helped with easier inventory management for the moving companies though the help of a Lidar 3D scanning system.
The second component of the ephemeral e-commerce system is the vending machine. This is done by creating a vending machine navigational diagram that explains the process of the start to the finish of the employee’s interaction with the vending machine. Further inspiration has been taken from the Acure and Aeguana, two vending machines whose interfaces were very inspiring in terms of creating the interfaces of our vending machine. This is followed by and orthographic view drawing in relation to the measurements of the vending machine truck by creating two interfaces, one for the dispense of the product-service and one for the return of the product-service. Furthermore, the display screens incorporated the elements from the app interfaces in terms of the texts and the layout used.
The last and final component of the ephemeral e-commerce system is the product-service itself. Vpack is a furniture packing product-service. The main problems that are solved by the creation and development of Vpack is reducing the landfill waste caused by the packing and moving industry, reducing the amount of packing that gets stuck in the sorting machines of waste management facilities, health hazards of babies in contact with packing materials and the damage of furniture due to the lack of customizable packing materials available for furniture and durables. The product-service was inspired by chair leg protectors created by Anwenk and Happy cube created in Belgium. Vpack can be assembled using an easy to use puzzle system and includes indents on the floor of the product to ensure that the furniture can be seated properly and would not move while in transit. The four poles present help in locking the pieces together and ensuring that it is easily used by the moving company employees.
